Our country, by historic numbers, elected new leaders who we honor today in the inauguration tradition. We welcome the Biden-Harris administration and meet this moment with genuine hope for a sustainable and equitable world for future generations.
We acknowledge the stark contrast in today’s events at the Capitol to two weeks ago when it was the site of a violent insurrection and attempt to overthrow our democracy. We stand with all those who demand that the Biden-Harris administration and 117th Congress hold accountable all who enact, incite, or enable white supremacy.
We must reconcile our nation’s past with the need to build the equitable future we all deserve. To do so, we call on elected leaders to ensure all future policy solutions have justice and equity at their core. We hope these leaders will be good faith partners with the many organizations and movements ready to do this work.
For our part, we at Seventh Generation remain focused on working with our partners towards a just, sustainable, and clean energy future and partnering with our elected officials to make the progress needed to get there. We know there can be no transition to renewable energy, no way out of the climate crisis without a commitment to anti-racism and a democracy that serves all people.
We will act not just feeling the weight and hope of the current generation, but of those seven generations into the future as well.
On a mission to create a more healthy, sustainable, and equitable world for the next seven generations and beyond.
