For many products you buy & use, instead of buying them over and over, do a search online for whatever the product is, and "homemade" and another search with "recipe" in quotes, so you get the exact phrase. It can be the generic name of the product (e.g., hairspray, so I'll search for "homemade hairspray" and "hairspray recipe"....or the brand name of the product, such as "febreeze", do the same. I make my own "febreeze" with a recipe online using 7th generation fabric softener...make my own hairspray, hairgel, shampoo, bath salts, facial toner, facemasks, bubble bath, laundry stain spray, etc, have also found recipes for things people usually buy such as taco seasoning mix, brown gravy mix, marinara sauce, enchilada sauce, etc...the list never ends! Also, making these things yourself you know what's in them--Not only will you save the environment, but save lots of money too!

I'm a forty something homemaker, mother of 2 grown kids, and long time environmentalist since 1987 when I first became a mom...And living green is something that constantly improves over time, as time passes, you find & think os new ways to reduce, reuse & recycle!! I get a great amount of satisfaction...every time I fix something that broke, or find a way to save resources, etc...the way I see it, and think people should look at the environment is, sure, throwing those 6 cardboard boxes away doesn't seem like much....but multiply that by a million, you have a lot of wasted trees....recycle them, doesn't seem like much...but multiply that by a million people doing the same thing, that is quite an impact!! Which group do YOU want to be a part of?? Insignificant as any one act may seem, it ALL ADDS UP!!
