Where do you call home?

Kenosha, WI

What tip do you have in the category of 'Family Health'?

By switching all of our cleaning products to Seventh Generation (as the other stuff ran out-and then recycling what we could) my self and my son have decreased our Albuterol inhaler need from approximately 2 times a WEEK to approximately 2 times a MONTH. I used to think it was important to use all of those harsh chemicals to keep things clean, that was the way to keep us healthy, but about 1 month after switching over completely I realized that neither of us needed to use our inhaler or step outside after cleaning, and the house is still clean and it smells like a house-not a swimming pool.

What shade of green are you?

Light Green

What's your favorite Seventh Generation product?

Tell us about yourself:

Our family of 4 has always enjoyed the beauty of the Earth. We love hiking, camping, backpacking, mountain biking and soon to enjoying kayaking. However, through a recommendation from my son's scouting magazine we found out about Seventh Generation products and after reading the labels, started researching other ways to bee planet friendly. We even found planet friendly cat litter. My son and I have asthma, and every time we would clean, particularly the bathroom, we would have a difficult time breathing for nearly a week. I can't believe the difference that Seventh Generation has made from a health standpoint, but like I said it also made us think about other things we did. I feel terrible admitting this, but we did not even recycle. We do now!!! Before Seventh Generation opened our eyes we were very much aware of what we put into our bodies and ave eaten organic, locally grown or Fair Trade foods for two years. My husband is a vegetarian, and my daughter is a meat reducer. We support our locally grown, organic farmers market. We are also very active with our Church community which is how we came to know Fair Trade and Clean Clothes. Our family is also very active with Cub Scouts and we have been sharing our new found joy of green with the 12 boys in my sons den, and it has been spreading through the whole pack of 57 families. It is so great to watch everyone get excited about their new canvas shopping bags, or where to find the best organic soaps, or what local stores has the most Seventh Generation products. If anyone has any tips for a family of four that is working towards being very green please share.
