Tell us about yourself:

As a 21 year old native austinite, I am blessed to be raised in eco conscious community and family. I personally live by the standard that less is more. While it is best to reuse and recycle I believe that by making the choice to simply consume less you make the largest impact. I recently turned my company green. Working for a financial planner, we consume a large amount of paper. I enrolled our company in a recycling program and we now only purchase 100% recycled paper. My company was recently recognized by the City of Austin for our efforts. Austin provides an option to purchase renewable energy which I, my family, and now my business, and coworkers participate in. I enjoy spending my time giving back to my community. I volunteer at our local animal shelter and the Austin chapter of habitat for humanity. I am glad that becoming green has gotten so "trendy." I feel that more and more people are recognizing the need to conserve our resources.I hope to find a way to involve more people of my generation in this way of thinking. It is important to recognize what has been accomplished and not just focus on the problem. By showing people that we have already made a big impact, we only encourage them to join in.
