New Diapers

For some reason I am unable to reply to any thread, so I guess I'm forced to start a new one. I really hope that 7th Generation reads these posts because the new design is horrible! I ordered my first box of Diapers from Gaiam.com and I loved them. Then I purchased some from a local retailer and they leak... leak.. leak!!! I assumed that the retailer must be selling dated product, but then I came to find out those are the "new and improved" ones. I wouldn't be upset about there being less diapers in the pack if they were indeed a better product. Please bring back the old style - they were really great.

Diaper Design???

I hope Seventh Generation is going to go back to plain diapers. The new logo (Lorax) is not what I would expect fron Seventh Generation.

I LOVE seventh generation diapers!

My daughter has been allergic to disposable diapers since birth. The first three weeks of her life she had a raw bum. This is my second baby and got sick of the doctor telling me that I didn't know how to change diapers. I went to my local natural store and bought cloth diapers. As soon as I put those on her within 2 days her bum cleared up and has never had a rash again. She has been in cloth for one year now. As you can imagine it is more work using cloth but having to tote around smelly cloth diapers when you are out is not nice. I started using Earth's Best but found that these still made my daughter breakout on her bum. I have been using Seventhgeneration now for two months every night and when we are out. They have not made her breakout and have not leaked. She has chubby legs and is a real mover when trying to change her. I am really satisfied with this product and will continue to use them at night for greater absorbancy and when we go out. At home I am continuing with the cloth diapers. Also with the cloth diaper brand called gDiapers, which I love, I have not had to use any diaper cream or barrier cream for a year. The same goes with the seventhgeneration brand. That saves money, not to mention chemicals going on your baby.

Can't even use these diapers for daytime!

So, I used to use 7th Gen along with our cloth but the fit was smaller, so we switched to Earth's Best and were very happy with them. It had been a while since I purchased a case of diapers, so I went to Amazon to order the next size up, but forgot which brand we liked better and ordered 7th Gen by mistake.

The first morning, he woke up beyond soaking wet! Later that day, he leaked at the store and it was 20 degrees outside. Poor baby just had to be wet till we got home. I had only put the diaper on a little over an hour before he leaked.

I am so upset about wasting so much money on a case of these diapers. We've used about 6 and have vowed to not bother with them anymore.

Seventh Gen works for us!

i'm not sure i completely noticed the change in tabs... maybe as a passing thought... i used both seventh gen and earths best in newborn sizes and i preferred earths best because they weren't very wide on a little skinny baby. But when we went to size 1 (moreso because the amount of liquid my baby ate increased than a need for a size change) we ran into many diaper explosions and lots of ruined onesies and clothes. we put those on hold, and did 2 packs of seventh gen in size 1 (which fit great)... thinking his legs just need to get thicker then went back to the pack of earths best we had. yesterday there was another horrible diaper explosion while we were out and his outfit was absolutely gooped! I went straight to Babies r us and bought some seventh gen diapers. we have NEVER had an explosion in those! also, the earths best ones tend to be very stiff... i contacted the company and they said they shouldn't be and sent me a coupon for a replacement pack, but the next pack was stiff too (not so with the newborn size). i am sticking with seventh gen right now. A little bulky for a skinny baby, but they are soft and no leaks.

We stopped using Seventh

We stopped using Seventh Generation diapers when I heard about Earth's Best. They are the best diapers I've found! The absorbent materials are made from corn, wheat, and the gel is made from salt. They are the most chemical-free diapers that I've found and they work great!! My daughter sleeps 10-12 hours a night and doesn't have leaks, and she doesn't fuss for a change in the morning. They keep her skin much drier and she hasn't had problems with diaper rash since we started using them. Because they are so absorbent and keep her so much drier, we only use 4 diapers a day!

I love Seventh Generation products and think they're a great company, but their diapers did not work for us. My daughter is chubby and we were going up a size almost every month. In addition to them not fitting her well, we always had leaks, especially at night.

Tabs

I do think the tabs are large, however I don't know what they were like before. I've only had a few problems with the tabs, but overall this is the best diaper and only diaper my daughter can use (besides cloth, which is too messy for me!)Diapers.com has the best price and they deliver to your door. If you order $49 or more you can get $10 OFF your FIRST order by entering TERE2334 in the promotion code.

another option...

For those of you not liking the new 7th gen diapers design, try another 'green' brand Nature BabyCare, available on Amazon. They were developed by an eco mother/lawyer in Sweden.

I just tried a pack; they are great. Actually, I will stick with 7th Gen for now because they are fine for my baby, but I would say the BabyCare ones may be slightly wider within the same size. If you use Amazon Subscribe & Save program, you save 15% (for any brand diaper). Good luck!

Horrible new design! Extremely dissatisfied!

I too am having the same problem with the new design. The diapers leak, are uncomfortable for my baby girl and leave red marks on her thighs. The old tabs were WONDERFUL! I do hope that 7th Gen. reads these comments and returns to their previously great product. Why mess with a product that is great. They totally ruined it!!! I tried Earth's Best and it is terrible! It is stiff and oddly shaped and left gel all over her bottom. I am going to try Nature Babycare. Has anyone ever tried them?

Totally agree that new improved fit .. is not true!

We've been using seventh generation diapers for the past 9 months. However, I'm seriously considering switching. The new tabs aren't very stretchy... which is a huge problem when you are trying to change diapers on a super squirmy little monkey. Also, we've had way more diaper leaking.. even after going up the next size. The old style diapers fit way better.

I've also tried other brands of diaper... and they fit my baby way better. I'd switch but the I hate the diaper smell.. and Blakie seems to get rashes from them. I had no clue that Earth's Best made chlorine-free diapers... I'm totally going to check those out!

I agree that I am not wild

I agree that I am not wild about the new design. My daughter is long and lean so we have not had hugh leakage issues but we definitely liked the old style better.

New and Un-improved!

I didn't realize these diapers had been unimproved either. I just thought my kid was getting grosser.

Aside from the green concerns, these were the best diapers on the market, conventional or otherwise & I've tried them all-Happy Heines cloth(bulky and annoying), G-diapers hybrids (clog toilets, bulky & annoying), Huggies(artificial scents and gels, stupid characters), Costco (not bad, actually), you name it. Now-yuck! Is this some ploy to sell more detergent and cleaning products because I've been using lots more since the change.
Plus, I go through a good 25% more of these diapers and throw away more plastic bags with the new design. That's not terribly green is it, now?

I'm still buying them because I get the deal from Diapers.com, but will gladly jump ship once I go through the 4 packages I have in my closet.

Either fix it or I'll have to forget it.

New Tabs and Sizes are Brutal

Cher

I completely agree with the new tabs being horrible. I have always suggested seventh generation to my friends and compared them to pampers only healthy. Now this is not the case. the new tabs are way to bulky and have no stretch, and the other day I told a friend about them but forgot to mention that she needs to make sure she gets a size larger then her daughter really takes and now she has a package of diapers that won't fit her daughter. What a waste.

NEW TABS ARE HORRIBLE FOR BABIES WITH THICKER THIGHS!!!

MY DAUGHTER IS ONLY 19LBS. AT 8 MONTHS OF AGE - BUT SHE HAS VERY STRONG THIGHS. SHE'S BEEN IN SIZE 5 7TH GEN. DIAPERS SINCE 6 MONTHS OF AGE. SINCE THE NEW TABS CAME OUT, SHE HAS TO WEAR SIZE 6 SINCE THE SIZE 5 NEW VERSION IS TOO TIGHT AROUND HER THIGHS/TUMMY... HOWEVER, THE SIZE 6 IS WAY TOO BULKY UNDER HER BUM/PRIVATES. UGH!!! I LOVED THE OLD TABS - THEY DIDN'T LEAK ANY MORE OR LESS THAN THE NEW ONES - PLUS THE NEW WIDER TABS RUB AGAINST HER THIGHS AND BELLY. DIAPERS.COM NO LONGER HAS THE OLD TAB DIAPERS. ALSO, THE NUMBER OF DIAPERS IN THE OLD SIZE 5 PACKAGE VS. THE NEW SIZE 6 IS CONSIDERABLY LESS (I THINK 30 VS. 22!) I SAW THAT BABIES R US JUST STARTED SELLING EARTH'S BEST BRAND OF DIAPERS - THESE ARE THE SAME PRICE AS 7TH GEN. BUT HAVE MORE DIAPERS IN EACH PACKAGE. I HATE TO SWITCH FROM THIS BRAND THAT I AM SO LOYAL TO (ALL OF MY HOUSEHOLD ITEMS ARE 7TH GEN.) BUT I MIGHT HAVE TO GIVE THE OTHER CHLORINE FREE BRAND A TRY. (ALTHOUGH I LOVE THAT 7TH GEN. DIAPERS ARE A PLAIN NATURAL COLOR WITHOUT ANY SILLY DESIGNS THAT CAN SHOW THROUGH WHITE CLOTHING.) PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE GO BACK TO THE OLD TABS OR GIVE US A CHOICE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agreed

I found the same issue and didn't realize there was a new style. The old ones were great, and now my daughter's diapers leak daily. I'm frustrated and may need to look at an alternative!
