Single Serve Coffee Pods

I am the only one at work who drinks coffee. I don't drink that much at one time so the office purchased a single serve coffee maker that works with a "pod". I just kept thinking there has to be something more environmentally sound than all those pods hitting the bin! I found that a reusable tea infuser works great! Now I can put the coffee grounds in the compost, wash and reuse the infuser for my perfect cup of coffee!

Energy warning on Keurig

I want French Roast and you want French Vanilla...

Solution? Keurig.

But what you don't know is that these machines draw a lot of electricity even when not in use. Unplug your machine after using it and your utility bills will show for it.

As easy-to-use as those

As easy-to-use as those K-cups are, I got a French press to make coffee instead. It takes a few run-throughs to get the steep time and ground amount right, but its worth it!

Addition on K-cup alternative/solofill

- oh, and it cleans easily (just a tap & light rinse or swish), I Think it said it was dishwasher ok but haven't ever found that necessary. It works better if the coffee isn't ground too fine, but in my experience isn't too picky. We've had these for about 2months and have definately put them through the ringer. Construction is good, love the fact that the lid is attached. It works great for loose tea leaves as well!!

"k-cup" alternative

We recieved a Keurig as a gift & I hated the thought (AND COST) of those little cups.. looked at the "refill it yourself" options and didn't really find anything good UNTIL...

This works GREAT, you can use whatever coffee you want, you get a stronger/better cup of coffee and works better and costs less than the Keurig version (in my opinion). You can still use your grounds for roses or composting, etc.

loose tea and k-cup

Just put the loose tea into your tea holder -I have a little round ball strainer thing that I place in the cup filled with green tea- and use the Keurig for the hot water. If you really have to ...or use the microwave to boil water.

My K Cup is your solution

I've got one of these and it works great.

You have to wash it after every use and you have to get the grind of coffee right, too coarse and the coffee is weak, to fine and the filter gets clogged. I've had mine for a couple of years and it's still working great.

Good luck!
