Seventh Generation Products are full of carcinogens and toxic chemicals

I am writing to express my disgust in your ability to deceive people all over this country, especially working class moms. For months I have picked up your product, hoping that it was indeed better than the others, only to find that time and time again, I have to peel the label of hidden ingredients, only to find that it is still full of toxic chemicals. I am beyond shocked, considering that almost 700,000 people on your facebook page “like” this product, particularly mothers, thinking that they are putting their money toward a green and safe product for them and their entire family.
Not only do you contaminate your products with poisons and well known carcinogens, you even hide these ingredients from consumers under the label and tout it as “natural” and “free and clear”. The only things free and clear are the makers of these products, who have managed to deceive and poison the people of this country without any repercussions. To say that these things are free and clear is a bold-faced lie and a disgrace.
One of the most alarming facts is that in your Disinfecting Multi-Surface Cleaner, Disinfecting Bathroom Cleaner, Disinfecting Wipes, Natural Dish Liquid AND Natural Free and Clear Baby Laundry Detergent, is sodium lauryl sulfate. As the SECOND ingredient. To see this at the very top of your ingredients list is a complete disgrace. According to the website: www.natural-health-information-centre.com, “Sodium Lauryl Sulfate enters & maintains residual levels in the heart, liver, lungs and brain from skin contact… the sole purpose of using SLS in clinical studies is to CAUSE skin irritation that can be used to identify the properties of other chemicals”. They then go on to say that “SLS is most likely a major contributor to ‘menopausal symptoms’ which never used to exist & more recently a massive drop in male fertility” because of it’s “oestrogen mimicking activity”.
One thing mentioned on the natural health website is definitely worth noting that no doubt all of you have experienced more than once in your lifetime: the fact that your eyes burn when soap or shampoo gets in them. This is caused by Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, which “has caused corneal damage in animals, ven when in contact with skin not near the eyes”. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate also leads to early stages of skin cancer by denaturing proteins and “exhibits MASSIVE potential to cuase and worsen cancerous states. The incidence of breast cancer has increased several-fold in the last 50 years, both in women and in men. A single shampooing can produce more cancer-causing nitrates in the body than eating a pound of bacon, which is VERY high in nitrates”. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is a known mutagen and is capable of damaging the genetic material found in every cell in your body”. Surely, people of Seventh Generation, you’d also want your loved ones to rub this chemical all over their hands, body and saturate their clothes with it as well?
Not only is it alarming that such a well-known carcinogen is on the top of your ingredients list, you also deceive everyone by following every ingredient with a “natural” explanation in parentheses after it’s listed. For example, “sodium lauryl sulfate (palm kernel or coconut-derived cleaning agent”). It is worth noting that not only is it a horrible cleaning agent, but many coconut oil- derived agents also contain 1-4 dioxane, a proven carcinogen, which your products have also been known to have. This “clearly” would never be found on your product label.
Finally, the most alarming ingredient in your products and especially prevalent in your baby products is boric acid. You are allowing moms everywhere to wash their baby’s clothing with boric acid, a chronic poison that is used to kill cockroaches and treat rotted wood. Not only that, you allow sodium benzoate to be in the “natural” baby wipes; a preservative that promotes cancer and kills healthy cells. How could you not only allow moms to use this, but convince them that what they are using is healthy AND watch them promote your product to mom’s everywhere? It’s absolutely disgusting.
Bottom line is it’s no mystery why people are dying of cancer at alarming rates, suffering from diseases more than ever before and acquiring health problems that never used to exist. There are companies that include even more toxic chemicals than yours, but many of them also don’t brainwash people everywhere into thinking that what they’re selling is all-natural or literally hide their ingredients under an adhesive. It’s disgusting what you’re doing and I’m sure Americans everywhere would pay a few extra cents to not have to ingest the cheap and toxic chemicals you use to ensure the product has a longer shelf life. What you’re doing to us and the seven generations after us is a crime and a disgrace and I hope that it will be changed for the health of our families AND yours. What you are doing is CERTAINLY not “nurturing the health of the next seven generations”.
