Scientific Evidence of Effectiveness of a Product

Hello,

My son's preschool is on a mission to become "green". One area we are working on is safe, nontoxic cleaning products that also kill viruses/germs to help keep the children healthy.

One product we are considering to use includes 7th Generation All Purpose cleaner. But the director needs concrete scientific research on effectiveness of the product before making the switch. Can you provide this for us?

Thank you!

Disinfection with Seventh Generation Cleaning Products

In most applications the germ-killing ability of plain soap and water is adequate to protect human health. However, there are some applications, such as hospital sanitation, where additional disinfection is specified.

To make a claim of disinfection, a product must be registered with the Environmental Protection Agency. The EPA ensures that the product kills specific microorganisms when used as directed on the label. The EPA also ensures that the product label contains sufficient information to assure safe use of the product.

At this time, no Seventh Generation product is registered with the EPA as a disinfectant.
