Corporate responsibility is in our DNA. From our very first days as a company we have been driven to consider the effects of our actions on the next seven generations. Our goal is to design products that make a difference -- from their development to their production, purchase, use and disposal. And as a pioneer in corporate responsibility, we strive to make our practices a model for moving the world toward a more just and sustainable future.
We believe it is our responsibility to set a course for a more mindful way of doing business. We are proud to be a founding member of B Corp and a certified B Corporation, meeting rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency. We encourage others to join us in using the power of business to solve social and environmental problems.
The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program recognizes buildings that meet specific criteria in six broad categories related to sustainable design: Water Efficiency, Energy and Atmosphere, Materials and Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality, Innovation and Design, and Sustainable Sites. Seventh Generation's offices incorporate a variety of materials, technologies, and features, which combine to create a facility that conserves resources, safeguards the health of its occupants, and makes positive contributions to the larger community.
In 2002, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) initiated the USDA BioPreferred® program as part of the Farm Bill. The Program is an accreditation for products with demonstrated biobased content – meaning the ingredients come from renewable biological sources. The USDA Certified Biobased product label lists the percentage of biobased content in each product. Our hope is that sharing our biobased content will encourage consumers to make more informed and conscious decisions about how products are made. Seventh Generation was one of the first recipients of the USDA Certified Biobased product label, and is an active participant in the USDA BioPreferred program.
All of our products are certified cruelty-free, never tested on animals, and contain no animal-based ingredients as shown by the Leaping Bunny seal on our packaging.

At Seventh Generation, each employee is asked to complete the equivalent of 1% of their time, or 20 hours - with a yearly goal of 2400 volunteer hours total. Connecting with our greater community is at the core of what we stand for. The Volunteerism program here at SVG fulfills our commitment to the communities we live in by dedicating our time as employees to create a connection beyond the walls of our office.
