I understand your concern to wanting tabs long enough, that will help the diaper to close around the baby's waist more snug, yet with a comfortable fit.
After, having a child of my own I have experienced what it is like for the diaper tabs to become unattached and have to wash a lot more laundry. Also, more house cleaning simply because a diaper does not fit well.
