Renewable Energy
Posted August 2nd, 2008 by Lefebvre177Hi All! I am in the process of making a big push in my house to go as green as possible. We are all drinking from reusable water bottles, using new lightbulbs, shopping at the local farmers markets, using cotton and canvas shopping bags (no more plastic) and many, many other things as well. I wanted to post here about a change that I am the most excited about! I checked into my local electric company and found that I could switch to renewable energy to provide my elecricity needs. In my area, my utility is working WITH renewable energy companies and will still provide emergency service, line maintenance etc, as well as billing. I had several options: wind, 60/40 wind/small hydro, small hydro. After a bit of research, we chose wind as our energy source. I did not even know this was a possibility, I simply stumbled on it while searching the web for green ideas for my house. I thought others might be interested to know that they might have this option as well. Check with your local company...the more people that use renewables, the faster this market will grow!
