PLEASE HELP I recently relocated to the city, from a residential neighborhood down south. Back home I had bins, and places on my daily route that made recycling easy. I now live in an apartment building, and they have one spot where EVERYTHING goes... How can keep up my recycling in the city?

Recycling in the City
Large cities are now going to continuous stream recycling, i.e., they collect all the rubbish, put it on a conveyer belt, and the recyclables are automatically taken out. Find out what your city is doing.
I also live in an apartment.
I also live in an apartment. My savior has been Target's recycling bins. I keep reusable bags underneath my sink for my plastics and metal, drop them off when I shop there, then use the bags for my shopping, which gets me five cents off per reusable bag used. As for paper, check around for schools, grocery stores, and churches. Many of them have paper/cardboard bins in their parking lots.

You should check with your city's refuse department. They usually know is recycling is available & where collection bins may be. You can also bring your recycling when going to stores like Whole Foods which offers several bins for all types of items. How about talking to other people at work or places you frequent to see if they know of places to recycle. For instance, I can recycle most waste at home but only 2 types of plastic but a co-worker who lives in another part of the city is able to recycle all platsics so I collect the ones I can't do and bring them to her for recycling when my bag is full. Happy recycling!
