I have just moved to a new apartment building next to a park and found out that we have mice. I have been looking for a green solution to this problem, but the only thing I have found is rat poison and traps that glue the animals to them and slowly kills them witch I find extremely inhumane. Is there another way to get rid of them or scare them away?

You could buy a cat, or buy/make a humane mouse trap.
PETA sells them
Or there are many pages/youtube videos that show you how to make them.
Just search "humane mouse traps"
Beware though, rats are a lot smarter than mice. Believe me, I have two. ^^
Get a Cat
If you are not allergic, and the apartment is big enough, you might consider adopting a cat from a shelter. The cat's scent should keep mice away.
