How Effective is 7th Generation Laundry Detergent?

I really want to be able to use vegetable based laundry liquid detergent, and it works on MOST things, but not underwear and frankly those are the key items to clean. Even using HOT water, which is not so environmentally friendly does not do the job and crusties (I know gross, but this is important) are left. Help?

Liquid Versus Powder

You could try Seventh Generation laundry powder. SG laundry powder contains oxygen bleach in addition to surfactants, enzymes, and other cleaning agents. It works well in cold, warm, or hot water. To reduce your environmental footprint, use the coldest water you can while still getting your clothes clean!

Seventh Gen's Free and Clear Cholorine-Free Bleach

I love this stuff. I have a seven year old son who, lets face it, forgets to clean himself well at times. It works great. My trick to whites (and I wash in cold water) is to put them in the machine, fill it up, let it agitate for a few minutes and then turn it off. The laundry soaks overnight. Get up in the morning, turn on your machine, let it cycle through and voila! clean whites.

This is a trick you learn living in the area of North Carolina that I live in. Our dirt is red mud, so soaking is a necessity, especially for childrens clothes.

Hope this works!
