Scent is one of the most powerful senses we have. Experiencing a scent unfold can transform our mood, transport us to distant places, or connect us through a shared experience. It signals the season, the time of day, the person we’re with, the space we’re in, and — sometimes, it unexpectedly reminds us of where we have been.

Just as we breathe in and experience scent, so do our homes. From coffee brewing in the kitchen to the fresh-from-the-dryer linens we put on our beds, scent exists in every room, hallway, and entrance. At Seventh Generation, we believe that scent can be a healthy, integrated, and organic experience — one that is neither overpowering nor simply superficial.

In collaboration with Éva-Marie Lind, our inspiring scent designer, we are proud to introduce eight new blends that will be featured throughout our home product lines. Rather than compete with one another, they’ve been designed as a system to layer, like blossoms in a bouquet. Based on the products you choose, you can create a multidimensional scent experience that is specific to your own living home. Our scents are created from only pure and whole plant and flower essences.

There’s More to the Story
Environmental and Practical. We are working to reduce our footprint through the use of pure and whole plant and flower essences, rather than using added systems of ingredient production. Whole plant essences are also safer for you to breathe and touch than their synthetic counterparts. And, of course, they are biodegradable.
Healthy and Safe. Plant oils are less likely to create an allergic response. Additionally, unlike synthetic fragrance, plant and essential oils have a physical and emotional relationship with the body—soothing, energizing, relaxing, stimulating, or balancing.
Connection and Impact. One result of developing our new scents that we’re especially proud of is the formation of new relationships around the world, with the suppliers of our essential oils as well as with local farmers and producers. These partnerships are based on a promise to not use endangered or threatened species in the creation of our blends.
Inspiration and Creation. We think the creative inspiration behind our scent blends is what makes them particularly innovative. Inspired by and built around the idea of a tree, the essences incorporated in our blends draw from all its parts: roots, wood, core, leaf, fruit, seed, and flower.

We were constantly learning, exploring, and questioning, energized and inspired anew by the process and the education, while forging a wonderful new friendship with Éva-Marie Lind, the creative force behind our new scent blends.

Éva-Marie is the CEO of EM Studios Arome and has devoted over twenty-five years to innovations in the fields of natural products, alternative health and wellness, and spa therapy. As a specialist in aromatic and medicinal plants, she focuses her work on the science, aesthetics, and formulation of revolutionary and authentic whole scent and flavor design.

EM Studios Arome strives to synthesize ecology, environment, culture, and humanity through the design and use of globally sourced, sustainable, and pure ingredients.
