Plastic-Free Diapers

I am currently using G-diapers because they breakdown in the landfill or compost pile in about 50-150 days. I would like to see Seventh Generation do something similar. I would suggest to provide a liner like G-diapers but can fit all of the new all-in-one cloth diapers. This way all of us using cloth or G-diapers dont have to buy more covers to start. Just a thought.

There is a better one time use diaper

I wrote your company a year a ago..... I had a hope that due to the size of your company that you could make an impact on todays market with a safer and more environmentally aware diaper. I noticed that huggies uses a chlorine free with organic cotton diaper to compete with you. That is big, but the next step would be to make a totally compost able diaper. After all you are seventh generation. If the diapers can go back to the earth in less than 7 generations that would be fantastic right? I saw that some lady from Sweden not connected to a large company was able to put such an item on the market this year. As the demand for bio-plastics increases so does the cost go down. Please consider the position you have to do the right thing. Many people would like a compost able, bio degrading diaper on the main stream. It really is the next step to having the best technology out there. I wonder how many other companies are working on that technology right now. You should be the first to do it! I would be happy to see this and i can only guess that many of the people on this site would be happy as well. I hope you can do that sooner than later.
Moms everywhere would be totally grateful. Thanks for your time!

LOVE LOVE LOVE Seventh Gen

LOVE LOVE LOVE Seventh Gen diapers. Who love to see a g-diaper type of liner as we will be using g-diapers at home with #2 but sticking with Seventh Gen for daycare and travel.

There are other biodegradable disposables on the market

Nature Babycare has a corn-based "plastic" in their diapers, and the packaging is also made from the corn-based "plastic".
I hesitate to use the 7th Gen dipes because of the plastic, although I do like that they are chlorine-free.

well there is one other way

you could always go old school (even if it's just at home) and do the cloth diaper option....I know a few parents that loved it.

Excellent Idea...

Being an expectant mother, I've done a lot of research with cloth diapers. It would be great if Seven Generation would come up with a liner that would be compatible with any cloth diaper cover or pocket diaper. Cloth diapers are definetly a greener option that disposable diapers, but you still are using a lot of time, energy and water washing the diapers. So if there was a greener disposable diaper, that would be the best option. The other challenge would be making the diapers or diaper liners affordable...cloth diapers are far more economical in the long run. The cloth diaper business has exploded recently and I think a lot more people are considering cloth diapers. It may be beneficial to Seventh Generation to jump on this opportunity as a business and also to continue their mission.

Amen to that, AND....

May I also suggest using a biodegradable polymer? Is Polyvinyl alcohol a poor option? Or even something natural AND biodegradable. I'm not sure what you have to work with here -- maybe agarose or cellulose or even tapioca???
Maybe I'm going out on a limb here...
