I was very enthusiastic the other day when I saw that Babies R Us had begun stocking their shelves with these large case quantities of Seventh Gen diapers and wipes. Granted, they were only carrying sizes 3 & 4 (I need 2 & 5) but I was excited none-the-less. My assumption was that this new bulk quantity would save me some money! WRONG. The box of wipes, for example, has packs of 70 wipes rather than the standard 80 pack. The cost per wipe works out to be MORE by the case than buying individual packs of wipes!
Maybe I'm being oversensitive, but my husband and I have gone to great lengths to use Seventh Gen wipes and diapers for both our babies (under 2) and this just smacks of the standard business practice of stickin it to the unsuspecting customer. We have faced down gobsmacked stares from friends and family who think we are NUTS to pay 3 TIMES the price of standard diapers. And I can't imagine we're alone. It seems that only the wealthy New York and LA moms with $800 European strollers can really afford to live Green.
Coupons are scarce, times are tough, and it would be nice for Seventh Gen to do SOMETHING to make their products more affordable. I had hoped the bulk option would be just that. It is not.
If Seventh Gen has nothing to do with setting the price for these items, then they should at least know that their vendor is giving them a bad name by continuing this practice.
