Tell us about yourself:

I became interested in 'green' things at age 9(ish) when a grade school teacher introduced the class to Earth Day. As a teen, I developed an interest in herbs and made my own facial masks and various remedies. I fell out of practice and have only been back in the 'scene' since the recent craze took off.

As superficial as I feel most trends are, I thank this one for getting me back into the swing! I started recycling, put my baby in cloth diapers (then switched to Seventh Gen due to an eczema breakout from the constant hand-washing)and would love to get a composter for my kitchen soon!

I am currently working on starting my own natural cosmetics business, with a few 'side' products. A percentage of the profits will go to worthy charities/organizations and it is my hope to promote the idea of there being more than one type of beauty out there...young or old, dark or light, rich or poor, we are all beautiful and deserving.

My time is often divided between my sons, getting my degree (Business/Marketing)and working hard. It doesn't leave time for much of a social life, but I'm doing what I believe most in and that's what's important to me. At the moment, I don't have time to be very active in my favorite causes, but I'm hoping to change that in the near future.

Previously, I got into the fight to help save my local forest from scheduled burnings (we'd done well in holding them off, but it was a struggle) and would like to find (or start, if necessary) an organization to help save my local river from pollution. I feel if everybody pitches in, even a little, it will go a long way toward a healthier environment...one we can be proud to leave for our children!
