I believe that the greatest contribution I make to sustainability is being a vegetarian. Additionally, in my home, I use only environmentally friendly cleaning products and recycled items whenever possible.

I am a retired Licensed Professional Counselor engaging only in volunteer endeavors at the present time. I am the president-elect for the board of directors of the Oregon chapter of Physicians for Social Responsiblity and the Central America regional action coordinator for the Chapter 48 of Amnesty International. Within Physicians for Social Responsility, I am a member of a work group focused on reductions in global warming. I perform psychological evaluations for individuals seeking political asylum in the United States and for military personnel seeking discharge from or reassignment within the armed forces based upon emotional impairments. I am a member of and regular contributor to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, Physicians for Human Rights, Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, Natural Resources Defense Council, Union of Concerned Scientists, Oxfam, and Doctors Without Borders (MSF). In my personal life, I contribute to a reduction of global warming and environmental degradation by driving a Prius, using fluorescent light bulbs, recycling virtually all household waste products, composting, consuming no meat, using recycled products to the greatest extent possible, using only cold water and short cycles for laundry, and supporting all legislation promoting sustainability, clean energy sources, and reductions in energy consumption.
