Liquid Fabric Softener and Spray Starch?

Posted May 17th, 2009 by ysilver1

For more delicate clothes that can't be put in the dryer but have static problems, does anyone know of any "natural" and unscented liquid fabric softener?

also, any natural spray starch out there? while ironing, there are some clothes that need the boost to stay unwrinkled all day. But any spray starch I've tried smells horrible- I can only imagine how bad it is.

I found this recipe on the web, maybe it could be of some use to you.
# 1 tablespoon cornstarch
# 1/2 cup water
Directions

1 Mix the cornstarch and the cold water in a saucepan over medium heat (not boiling) until mixture is smooth and transparent.
2.Let it cool enough so you can safely pour it into a spray bottle.
3.Voila!
4.You're ready to go!
Tips:a lot of people also mentioned you can add your own essential oils like lemon or lavender if you want too. Just do it while its cooling. Also make sure its completely transparent and no visible white.

I have seen quite a few recipes for homemade spray starch. Most involve mixing cornstarch with cold water. Only one recommended cooking the starch for 1 min. I'm wondering if cooking the mixture to get the cornstarch granules to open up and release their payload of starch into the water is an important step. Curious if anyone has any experience with this.

i copied the recipe for homemade starch which you make with cornstarch Then i pulled out my bottle of STAY-FLO liquid starch which believe it or not the ingredients are water, corn starch, borax and then processing aids, preservative, ironing aid and perfume. I think i'll contact them and find out what their preservatives are. Then if the ingredients are ecofriendly compare prices of STAY-FLO and cornstarch.STAY-FLO may be just as safe and easier to use then mixing your own and using energy to heat up the cornstarch?Just curious.Oh by the way ,i think vinegar is a miracle product! You can use it for almost anything!
