University of Colorado Boulder Students put 4X Laundry Detergent to the Test

We took our 4x Liquid Laundry Detergent on the road and had college students from University of Colorado Boulder put it to the test. We had them make some seriously ucky, gucky stains -- Ben & Jerry’s chocolate ice cream, cranberry juice, tomato sauce -- and do a full load, Seventh Generation style.

This little powerhouse-in-a-cardboard-bottle got an A+ and proved to be a well-rounded hit with the students. They liked the smell, and were surprised & delighted when their clothes came out sparkling white.

I like Arm and Hamor Detergent. I use 7th generation and love the dish soap, but the detergent is average. I wash alot of heavily soiled articles from a dog rescue and they never smell clean with this detergent.

I have not used this non-baby detergent but I recently had a newborn and that stuff is great. I'm not going to use Dreft or similar again. Laundry smell was great and it got out the icky baby stains.

other brands of detergent made my front loader smell bad - 7th gen doesn't leave any residue behind so washer doesn't smell bad. love 7th gen.

We use 7th gen laundry detergents and they work great. Nice smells. We have two dogs and we use these to wash their beds. Works great. Also, we purchase because our one dog has sensitive skin. No more skin problems!

We have small indoor dogs and it is always a challenge finding a laundry soap that will take out both stains and odors. For now we use two to three different chemicals per load. Being able to use one product that would also be clean for the environment and our family would be rewarding.

hi & I recently purchased the new 4x - I have used 7th gen for years - & I am so happy about the new packaging. What a great idea! The 4x cleans all my laundry, just as I expected. Seventh Generation products have been & will continue to be a part of my life. Keep up the good work. Deborah S

The new scent is giving Blue Eucalyptus and Lavender some competition at my house. Anxiously awaiting liquid fabric softener or sheets in Geranium Blossoms and Vanilla!

Due to my sensitive skin, I am already limited to which types of laundry detergent that I can use. I would love to try out the Seventh Generation stuff, but due to the economy, will probably not do so without some coupons.

So... what's the catch? This is literally the best laundry detergent I've ever used. My apartment has a cheap coin op washer, and no other detergent would get the clothes smelling clean, or rinse off very well. You could always feel suds left after the rinse cycle. Now, I use a lot less detergent (more expensive by the bottle, but certainly cheaper per-load), the clothes come out ACTUALLY CLEAN, and there is no detergent residue left. I actually blurted out an obscenity when I took the first load using this detergent out of the washer, because I couldn't believe it was that good. No joke.

As a mom of kids, I'd like to see clothes that have been in a ball somewhere for a week+ w/chocolate, etc. spilled on them get clean... washing something that just had something spilled on it really isn't much of a true test, IMO... kids, espcially young ones, spill & the stains sit for more than a few minutes before being washed... sometimes for days.

I was so excited to buy it, loved the packaging but compared to Biokleen - it just couldn't get the job done. It barely made suds and left a lot of stains, no matter how I treated them.
