In the last decade, palm oil has come into high demand as a raw material for consumer products. Unfortunately, the increased demand has proven damaging to the environment, particularly to tropical rainforests where most of the palm oil is sourced.
 
The destruction of the rainforest in Indonesia and Malaysia is endangering species of animals such as the Orangutan. Seventh Generation is working on solutions for sourcing palm oil sustainably through multiple tactics including buying palm oil off-set credits, consumer education through partnerships (such as the Philadelphia Zoo) and conservation.
 
Most recently, we are introducing a new bar soap that is made with 100% sustainably sourced palm oil.
