When I think about what the world needs most and what I need to do to contribute to at my highest level of capability I think about what we need more of not what we need less of! Yesterday I had the wonderful challenge of sending a group of college graduates off on the next chapter in their journey through life. What to say? I wrote and rewrote my speech, practiced it with my wife, and both my 11 and 18 year old daughters. But you know what? As I stepped up to the podium , I barely read a word that I had written! You’re all filling me with optimism tonight.

Seth Godin suggests we change the name of global warming to "Atmosphere cancer" or "Pollution death" - Wow, where was he when we needed him – 5 or 10 years ago! This supposedly helpful and thoughtful “marketing” insight is both overly simplistic and borders on being stupid & trite!
The world is changing. First one of my favorite journalists, Simon London quits the Financial Times to go work at McKinsey. I think, wow, we just lost one of our best thinkers, but then the recent McKinsey Quarterly issues an in-depth report revealing to all their clients (Wal-Mart included) that they can’t afford to not only take corporate responsibility seriously, they must become involved. Corporate responsibility as a strategic imperative?
