On Valentine's Day, Help Women In Need

Sustainable Health Enterprises LogoAs part of our annual giving program, Seventh Generation is working this Valentine's Day with SHE, a non-profit organization that helps women in developing countries start their own businesses manufacturing affordable sanitary pads. In many of the countries where SHE operates, women and girls lose up to 50 days of work or school a year because they don't have access to sanitary pads. SHE's approach creates a sustainable local supply of pads made from banana fibers, a renewable resource, and builds a lasting economic opportunity for women trying to lift their families out of poverty.

Donate $10 to SHE now through the end of April, and Seventh Generation will donate a pack of sanitary pads to the Committee on Temporary Shelter (COTS), an organization in our hometown of Burlington, VT that provides temporary housing and other services to women and families in need.

On Valentines' Day (and every other day) let's join together to help women and others who need our support! Click here to donate.

Check out a keeper.

This may be contradictory for your company on a capitalist level, but as part of your mission, I think you have to agree that this product is great for the environment.
Pads and tampons are not the only solution for menses. Gladrags.com has products called keepers. Menstrual cups that you dump, wash and reinsert. For about $35, youget a ten year or more life out of it. Nothing to throw away but what mother nature helps us shed. There is also cotton pads youcanwash and re-use. I have a set that are 3 years old and just as good as new. Organic cotton varities too. Well worth the initial cost. Just a thought.
