When I was a kid, life featured just four noteworthy pieces of high-tech wonder: the phone, a tube TV, a transistor radio and the holy hi-fi. Only the radio was portable. And whatever the family had when you were six was still there when you left for college. Now it all slips in your pocket and becomes an antique before it's out of the box.

In today's fast-paced world women are being pulled in so many directions. We are working, raising families, raising grandchildren, taking care of spouses, elderly parents, sick siblings, needy neighbors. For most of us, getting through a day is a daunting balancing act.
 

The view out my window seems a little darker this morning, and it's not just dismal clouds crowding out the sun in a grey swollen sky or the rain they're so very close to bringing. There is a quite a bit less light in the world today, for I learned last evening that Malcolm McGregor Barnum, Jr., a man that many of us here loved, is gone.
 
Gregor, as he was forever known, was Seventh Generation's first Director of Corporate Consciousness, but that tells us next to nothing about what we and the world have lost.
