Winning One for the World

We’ve known it was coming for awhile but today it’s official so we can finally share the good news: Seventh Generation has won a 2008 Fast Company Social Capitalist Award. Sponsored by Fast Company Magazine and the Monitor Group, the awards honor those leading businesses and non-profit organizations who are harnessing the tools of the marketplace for the greater good and helping solve some of today’s most urgent challenges in the process.

We’re pretty psyched to have been recognized by the business community this way. As Jeffrey says in our press release, we’re living proof that a company can be a powerful force for positive in the change in the world and still make a profit. The two aren’t mutually exclusive propositions and receiving an award like this is one of the best ways to broadcast that vital message to the rest of the world.

Last Call for the Blogger’s Choice

Though it might seem to be the Contest That Never Ends (we did, after all, first post about this back in early May), voting in the Blogger’s Choice Awards is at last coming to a close.

Winners are to be announced November 10th. We’ve been nominated for Best Corporate Blog, and after all these many months we’re holding our own in fourth place, which is great but not quite enough to crack the Top Three where all the action is.

So, to indulge in a small amount of shameless self-promotion, if you’ve got a spare moment or two and want to help your favorite blog to a seat a limelight head over here and cast your vote for inspiration. It’s a stress-free process. Just click the little gold “vote” button under our current “total votes” tally. A quick registration and an e-mail later and you’re a voter. Don’t know if we can beat giants like Southwest Airlines and Google, who probably gave their respective staffs of thousands the day off to vote repeatedly, but it’s worth a try.

Use Your Vote to Enhance Our Self-Esteem

In case you missed this hot in-house news item… If you’ll look to the immediate left here, in the Captivating Column of Divinely Inspirational Thingamabobs (apologies for the technical jargon), you’ll see up top there that (cue thunderous applause and raucous cheering)...

That's right. The Inspired Protagonist has been nominated for the Blogger’s Choice Award for Best Corporate Blog. Now I know it’s a honor just to be nominated. But if nominations are an honor, what's it like to win? Let’s find out, shall we?

To do that, you guys are going to have to vote because that’s the way this one works: whosoever gets the most votes from their adoring public wins. There are no judges. No juries. Just a ballot box stuffed as full as we can all conceivably get it. So when you’ve got a second or two, head over to the Blogger’s Choice Awards and cast your vote for inspirational protagonism. It’s pretty simple. Just click the little gold “vote” button under our current “total votes” tally. A quick registration and an e-mail later, and you’re in. A couple of clicks after that, and you’re there. Enough clicks and we win. It’s simplicity itself.

Right now we’re #4 with a bullet and just three votes from the number #3 position. Currently, it looks like Google and Southwest Airlines are rallying the troops to maintain the number one and two spots, but they’re not nearly as inspired as we are. Let’s show ‘em how it’s done.
