Popcorn is one of my favorite snacks whether watching a movie or just for a snack. Growing up, when my brother and sister and I were at home after school, we would get creative with what we made to eat. One of our homemade "junk" foods was popcorn dressed with powdered jello; we were able to turn regular popcorn into strawberry, lime, or other fruity flavors. This recipe is a healthy version of those early days, but no less creative. Any interesting flavors work, so feel free to experiment with flavor combinations that can be sprinkled on!
4 tbs popcorn kernels
3 tbs coconut oil
1 tsp zatar, or curry powder, or sugar, or any other spice mix of flavoring
½ tsp salt
1. In lidded pan place 2 tbs coconut oil.
2. Add 4 tbs popcorn kernels to hot pan and cover the lid
3. Keep on the heat until the kernels pop slowly.
4. Remove from heat and pour into bowl.
1. Mix dry ingredients in a small bowl
2. Melt on 1 tbs coconut oil, add dry ingredients to the oil and heat for 30 seconds-1min.
Pour melted flavoring over popcorn and toss to coat evenly.
