Great idea

Having an online shopping site is great, but shouldn't it be cheaper than other online stores? I was comparing diaper prices only, and I can still buy them from other stores for cheaper (and in some cases, with free shipping) than buying directly from Seventh Generation. I appreciate being to get the products directly from the source (cuts out middleman shipping & the greenhouse gases associated with all that extra shipping & storage), but saving money is also important to me.

agreed, i can get these

agreed, i can get these products for less than half the price offered here. not worth it!

Bad Bag Design
Posted by LoveMyVeggies | Wed, May. 27, 2009

I am all about spreading the word about Seventh generation's great products, but the design of that tote bag is aweful. Would be happy to carry a bag that looked great too. Chic, great, wearable colors with logo placement that didn't lok like the side of a NASCAR vehicle. Sorry, love your products, but it doesn't look like a consumer-marketing person was really involved in that bag design.

Pricey
Posted by wadiaz | Wed, May. 27, 2009

I have to admit that I agree with the postings about the prices, but I do love the online store! I can get some the products here that I can't find anywhere else. Also, far as the FREE bag, it's FREE!!! I am not about to trash anyone that voluntarily gives something away. Also, the design is simple and clean, just like the products. This is an environmentally conscious company selling their environmentally conscious products. The design is earthy and boldly advertises the company's logo. It serves the purpose of carrying your Seventh Generation products, eliminating the need for those nasty plastic bags or the unnecessary chopping down of trees for the paper bags, as well as adverising great products. Thank you, Seventh Generation!

Hmm...
Posted by esperanza1527 | Wed, May. 27, 2009

My question is "What is the bag made out of?" Giving a free bag is very generous, but if it's that tightly woven plastic stuff, it's not even worth it. Yeah, it's more sturdy and will last longer, but it think about the consumption to make it.

$$$$ Cha-ching for 7th Generation. Way overpriced...
Posted by sam2cpa | Wed, May. 27, 2009

I usually shop online, but I am going to have to pass on this site. The products are way overpriced being sold direct. They should be less expensive because there is no transportation charges. Plus, to purchase here you want ME to pay for shipping? Are you out of your mind? Good luck. Also, could you fix the site so that I can print out your coupons? Thanks.

tampons
Posted by MicheleDeb | Wed, May. 27, 2009

I began ordering your tampons for the first time and was disappointed to see that the shipping cost was more than the item itself. I cancelled the order and am wondering if any retail stores carry them?

Wow very expensive
Posted by JGlass99 | Wed, May. 27, 2009

I can get the tampons at my local groc store for $5.49. Thats more than $1.00 cheaper and no shipping. I was hoping buying direct would be cheaper but not in this case. All the prices on everything are a lot higher than getting them elsewhere. Amazon has the tampons for $5.78 and its a super saver shipping item-which means if you spend 25.00 your shipping is free. On Amazon the 32oz free and clear laundry det is 30.89 for a pack of 6 ($5.14 a bottle) with free shipping. On here its $6.99 a bottle plus shipping. I will use the coupons though, and hope they come down on their prices :(

Where to Buy Seventh Generation Tampons

To find local merchants who carry Seventh Generation feminine care products or any of our other products, visit our Product Finder at http://www.seventhgeneration.com/where-to-buy. Many online merchants also carry our feminine care products.

Baby Item Prices
Posted by JenniferO | Thu, May. 28, 2009

Wow. Those prices are out of control. I use the diapers, wipes, and cleaner and I do not pay nearly as much as listed for these items. A pack of size 1 diapers on this site is $14.99. They are $11.99 at Babies R US (in-store and online). Using the "Subscribe and Save" option on Amazon, I get a 4 pack of diapers for $37.39, which is roughly $9.35 per pack (and no shipping fees). The same thing pretty much goes for the wipes. On this site they are $5.49 for the refill pack. At Babies R US, they are $3.49(in-store and online), and at Amazon, they are $35.70 for 12 pack of 80 wipes, which is about $2.97 per pack, using the "Subscribe and Save" option (and no shipping fees). Oh, and the items ship directly from Seventh Gen, so there is no middle man. I'll never order from this site.

Incorrect description for dryer sheets
Posted by suesg | Thu, May. 28, 2009

When I looked up the info and price for the dryer sheets, it shows a box with the number "65" as if there are 65 sheets. The description, however, seems to be for 40 oz. of liquid softener. Please supply a description that relates to the dryer sheets, not the liquid softener.

love the kits for gifts
Posted by chenneyg | Thu, May. 28, 2009

i am so glad you added the kits! i was able to order some from the Aveda Pure Privileges Reward program and i gave a kit to each of my good friend for the holidays! they loved them! the kit i ordered was like the free and clear kit, but with the scented products. you should add another one like that free and clear kit, but with scents!

Missing Piece...
Posted by jessicamichelle711 | Thu, May. 28, 2009

I just receive the 7 piece cleaning kit and I didn't receive the Tote bag. How do I get my hands on one? I had thought I was to be sent one because to make the 7 pieces the tote bag was counted... What should I do next?

The store I buy my products from charge pretty much the same price as here online. Of course that is without the shipping.

Kind of bummed.
Posted by StacyD | Wed, Jun. 10, 2009

I'm a huge fan of your products and was really excited when I saw the email about the "Gift Shop." (I hate that name, by the way - it makes it sound like a roadside attraction selling puka bead necklaces and fridge magnets. I hardly think of tampons and laundry detergent as "gifts." Call it what is it - an "online store.")

I'm not going to be ordering anything here. The tampons are almost a dollar cheaper on drugstore.com, and if I bulk order from there I don't have to pay shipping. I know that you all just got a new CEO, and that things are probably a bit in flux. You are a fairly large company with a dedicated following, but you have to be careful with your customers. Provide us with good products at a fair price and we'll follow you to the ends of the Earth. Just don't pull disingenuous maneuvers like putting up a "Gift Shop" where you know the prices are astronomically higher than the outlets we've already been getting your products from, and then ask us to order from directly from you. Especially in this economy. It's kind of offensive.

There. I just saved you thousands of dollars in focus groups.

Two weeks and order is STILL not shipped. Unreasonable!!
Posted by sam2cpa | Wed, Jun. 10, 2009

I placed an order 2 weeks ago today, and it has still not shipped. I just canceled the order, and I will be switching to the brand called "Earth Friendly Products." At least they ship within 3 days. Gheez... You should not put up items in your online gift shop store, or whatever you want to call it, if you cannot ship it within 2 weeks. Good luck.

Wow - a full circle
Posted by arabinoff | Wed, Jun. 10, 2009

Back in the early 90's - when Seventh Generation did sales by catalog - I was one of the lucky few who worked in their call center.

Where else could an environmentally minded college student sell great products, meet amazing environmental heros, take a catnap and do laundry.

I should explain... the call center included a nap room if you were under the weather (or had been out late)and there was a washer and dryer (usually used for testing) which was available off-hours.

Back then the Seventh Generation catalog was a rare source of environmental products. And although SG products are available in stores where I live, I'm sure thats not true across the country. So I'm glad there is a direct resource.

Thanks for being such a great employer in the 1990's and keep making me proud Seventh Generation!

Too expensive...
Posted by heatherwaltz | Wed, Jun. 10, 2009

I had my order ready to submit and then saw how expensive the shipping was! Even with 15% discount I can go to the grocery store and get these things for less...

What about case prices?
Posted by warrenmom | Wed, Jun. 10, 2009

To make ordering online worthwhile, the prices really need to be competitive, including shipping. Given that there are 5 in our family, I would also like the option to order the largest sizes (e.g., liquid laundry detergent) and to buy in cases. It would cut down shipping labor and packaging and hopefully provide another level of discount.

Thanks for the discount!
Posted by lucky832 | Wed, Jun. 10, 2009

Wow- the negativity in most of these comments is suffocating.

THANK YOU 7th Generation for a fabulous discount. I can't wait to share it with my readers. They love your products as much as I do!

Keep up the good work.

Why more online?
Posted by seamus68 | Wed, Jun. 10, 2009

I am fortunate to have several retailers by me that sell you product. Even with the discount, these prices are way higher than I normally pay and I live where we have one of the highest sales tax.

For people who don't have access to your product, great. For the rest of us, no big deal.

Cheaper Elsewhere
Posted by jpstam | Wed, Jun. 10, 2009

I am surprised to see Seventh Generation proudly announce an online shopping / commerce site and not have competitive prices! Diapers.com sells diapers for $10-11/pack vs $15/pack on this site - and it's their own site! I don't like to see a company like this take advantage of loyal consumers in this way. How can a 3rd party retailer sell the brand cheaper than the brand itself?! Not happy with Seventh Generation at the time being. I hope their prices will come down.

Toilet tissue
Posted by jfletcher | Wed, Jun. 10, 2009

I was disappointed that the gift shop only sells 2-ply toilet tissue. I much prefer 1-ply, which greatly decreases the amount of paper used, but I have a very hard time finding 7th Generation 1-ply in any stores, so I often end up buying Marcal 1-ply instead. I'd rather buy yours!

Laundry detergent
Posted by jfletcher | Wed, Jun. 10, 2009

Do any of your detergents work with a cold water wash? The gift shop people weren't able to answer any of my questions about your products.

Cloth bags
Posted by jfletcher | Wed, Jun. 10, 2009

I used to love your old canvas bags. I still have them all from years ago and want to get more. They were sturdy and a perfect shape. Would you bring them back? I used to order them through what became the Gaia Catalogue, and it used to have free shipping for 7th Gen products.

Why would i use this site instead of Amazon?
Posted by s_cress | Thu, Jun. 11, 2009

I use your diapers (x2 kids), wipes, pull-up, household cleaners, detergent, dishwashing soap (both for the dishwasher and for handwashing). I also use your feminine hygenie products, so clearly I am a huge fan. I do not mean to pill on but these prices are sky high compared to using the amazon subscibe and save program plus the shipping is free and automatic...double bonus that I don't have to remember to order. I was so hoping you would have a similar program where I could order in bulk with a set ship date each month. Between Amazon and Target (at least mine has started carrying the cleaning stuff) your items are way cheaper there. Plus...even my grocery store sells the diapers for 10.99.

Love the concept but not really useful if the prices are higher. If prices where comparable, I would order direct in a heartbeat. Thanks for all the great products.

Hi. Thanks for your post. Seventh Generation strongly supports all the merchants who carry our products in the local and online marketplaces. Our own shop strives to carry a complete line of products, as well as some gift kits. We will continue to work to improve it.

I have been using The Seventh Generation laundry detergent for about 8 months or so now. It works great with cold water washes, that's all I ever use to save energy and money. Also, if you have a front load washer, the "64 loads" pretty much doubles, or more, because you don't have to use as much detergent.
