Meet the Inspired Protagonist
Welcome, friends, to the Inspired Protagonist, the brand new, first ever Seventh Generation blog. I'm Jeffrey Hollender, the President and CEO of Seventh Generation.
With this inaugural post, we begin a conversation that I think is going to be the most interesting and meaningful we've ever shared. And more than anything else, that's what I really want this new blog to be. A forum for dialogue between kindred spirits hell-bent on doing things differently. Certainly, this will also be a place for us to experiment together in variety of ways, but at the end of the day, I hope that what emerges over all else is an ongoing conversation between all the people who make Seventh Generation what it is—from those of us here in the office to you wherever you are.
From that conversation, I see a new community rising, one that simply wasn't possible until all this incredible technology came along. A community of seers and dreamers and doers and daredevils who aren't afraid to subvert the dominant paradigm and question the status quo. A community of visionaries united not by geography but by ideas, one whose many members are working together to bring a new world into being.
In short, we here at Seventh Generation are finally going to get a chance to learn from you as much as you've hopefully been learning from us. That's an amazing development to me. And I can't wait for it to start.
So start it shall. Right here, right now. And just in the nick of time, too. Because let's be honest: ours is a world very much in need these days. Its life support systems are failing. Its wealth is being hoarded among a relative few. And in too many places, its people remain unserved by notions of justice and fairness, health and happiness. To paraphrase the poet, a hard rain has a-started falling and the levees can't hold back the moment of truth that's coming.
But all is far from lost. Indeed, I think the coming days hold the potential to be humankind's finest hour. In the words of Mahatma Gandhi, we can be the change we want to see in the world. And in that I believe lies our planet's greatest hope.
