Ovarian cancer is the leading cause of death from gynecologic cancers in the United States and is the fifth leading cause of cancer death among U.S. women. In 2010, approximately 22,000 American women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and 14,000 will die.
The symptoms of ovarian cancer are often vague and subtle, making it difficult to detect and diagnose. Currently, there is no effective screening test for the early detection of ovarian cancer (such as the Pap test, which only detects cervical cancer). Common symptoms include bloating, pelvic and/or abdominal pain, difficulty eating or feeling full quickly and urinary symptoms (urgency or frequency). If a woman is experiencing these symptoms for two or more weeks, and if they are new and unusual for her, she should see her doctor.

WHY ORGANIC COTTON FEMININE CARE PRODUCTS?
Many women are surprised to learn that foods aren’t the only important organic choice they can make. Organic tampons are also available, and just like organic foods, they’re an important option to consider.
Why? Because conventional tampons are commonly made from a blend of cotton and rayon. Rayon is typically treated with chlorine dioxide, which can result in dangerous chlorinated toxins being released into the environment. And conventional cotton is typically grown using pesticides.
Seventh Generation organic cotton tampons are whitened without chemicals containing chlorine, just like our pads and pantiliners. Your choice of our chlorine free products can help reduce the amount of chlorinated toxins released into the environment and help make the world a healthier place for your family. Considering that the average woman will buy more than 11,000 tampons in her lifetime, organic cotton tampons are a simple but important choice to make a difference. Try them and see how easy a cleaner, healthier world can be!
DID YOU KNOW?
If every woman of menstruating age replaced one 16-count package of regular absorbency conventional rayon/cotton (60:40) blend applicator tampons with our organic cotton tampons, we could prevent 14,000 lbs of pesticides from polluting our rivers, lakes and streams.
