Housekeeping Notes

Here's a quick housekpeeing note for everyone, which I thought to post because there have been some issues lately...

Like most blogs, ours gets a ton 'o spam. To prevent messages concerning carnal acts with amphibians (I swear I'm not making that up), cheap fake drugs, women's shoes, and other uninspiring subjects from overrunning the comment sections of the Inspired Protagonist, we have spam filters in place that filter this stuff out. They work pretty well, but occasionally they also snare a legitimate comment. If that happens to one of your posted comments, it won't immediately show up on the site. Instead, it'll get sent to a purgatorial queue where it will sit until we can manually verify that it's a real comment from a real person and not an ad for performance enhancing groin medicines.

We (and by "we," I mean me) go through the spam filter once a day, usually in the morning, to clear out the garbage and free up any real comments being held captive. At that point your post will post. So if you ever try to post a comment and it doesn't show up right away, it's because our system gremlins think it's spam for some reason. In this case, just wait and see if it shows up within twenty four hours. If it doesn't, then try again and see if it works the second time. But most of the time, it's probably not a technical glitch preventing your comment from getting through. Just our spam filters working a little too hard, and we'll eventually free your message up.

Also note that really long comments and/or a string of back-to-back comments from the same e-mail address will also trigger our filters. So keeping things short and avoiding multiple comments at once can help.

Just so everyone knows...
