A little of this, a little of that, not quite enough for a full serving -- but what a waste to just toss it. Recent studies show that about 40 percent of the food we buy is thrown away -- wasting time energy and resources. Organizations like the Food Recovery Network are working to reduce food waste and fight hunger by recovering surplus perishable food and donating it to people in need. But on a much smaller scale, you can reduce your own household food waste by shopping more wisely and using recipes like this one from mother nature network to make the most of leftovers.
