The world is changing. First one of my favorite journalists, Simon London quits the Financial Times to go work at McKinsey. I think, wow, we just lost one of our best thinkers, but then the recent McKinsey Quarterly issues an in-depth report revealing to all their clients (Wal-Mart included) that they can’t afford to not only take corporate responsibility seriously, they must become involved. Corporate responsibility as a strategic imperative? Sounds like what we’ve been preaching for years. Is this good or bad? Depends on what they mean by corporate responsibility – I’m not sure that it means social justice.
