A few years ago, my best friend saved my summer sanity by suggesting I put food-quality mint oil in my drinking water. What a difference! Now I have a yearly ritual so I can welcome in the warm weather a little bit more easily. I've also found myself drinking more mint-flavored coffee now that the sun is in force, and am very happy that this leaf found its way into my life.

My daughter is a mini geography buff (the talking globe she got for her 3rd birthday was one of her all-time favorite gifts). But ever since I got home from a work trip to Italy, she's showing symptoms of having been bitten by the travel bug. One day she wants to see the Eiffel Tower. The next day, she's begging to go to Brazil. She asked if we could live at Disney World.

I’ve read more books than I can count about chemicals, cancer, and the environment, virtually all for reasons related to duty not desire.  So when the latest arrived, I steeled myself for yet another excruciating scholarly experience that would leave me begging for the relief a root canal might bring.  Boy was I wrong.

My daughter had opened her eyes to a member of the scouting party, rappelling its way from the ceiling to her bed. I grabbed the harmless little creature with a tissue, shook it out the window and went in search of my homemade "spider spray."

One food I've become quite fond of in my ongoing quest to maintain a healthy body and a smart budget is basa fillet. It's a tasty fish, with a delicate texture and nice, white flesh. A 100-gram serving provides 14 grams of protein.
