We all know that the global economic collapse of 2009 was caused by a fixation on short term growth at the expense of our long term economic health. This short term focus (you could call it short sightedness) has led to an economy responsible for pillaging our planet, and its natural resources, at rates far beyond its ability to regenerate itself.

The great John Muir once wrote that "when we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the universe." If there are truer words to describe the world's current environmental situation, I don't know them. Muir's is about as primal a thought as I've ever read.

Seventh Generation, the nation's leading brand of non-toxic and environmentally safe household products, today announced the appointment of Chuck Maniscalco, former President and Chief Executive Officer of PepsiCo's Quaker Tropicana Gatorade business, to the role of Chief Executive Officer.

As most of you know, Seventh Generation recently celebrated its 20th birthday. It was a triumphant moment worth savoring for many reasons; and an occasion that marked both a historic milestone and a landmark turning point for our company.
