Sodium Laurel Sulfate is a surfactant derived from palm and coconut oils (before treatment), and also used in toothpastes, enema/laxatives, and many other products. It isn't toxic, and it isn't carcinogenic. The only reason I've ever read that it could have a negative effect is for people who have chronic skin or mouth hypersensitivities.

I love this laundry detergent -- better than the Melaleuca detergent I've used for 10 years!

Read the ingredients list. It has harmful ingredients in it. It has Sodium Laurel Sulfate as well as synthetic preservatives.

I love the new packaging. Just having people see it on store shelves will remind them about all the plastic that ends up in landfills. I guess you just need to be careful with handling to prevent leakage, but it is worth it. And of course, the contents are the same wonderful detergent that cleans great with no smells or unhealthful chemicals. I've been using Seventh Gen products for a long time. How many other companies have a complete line that you can totally trust?

I really like this detergent. No chemical smell, no chemicals, period. Gets my clothing clean, even in our hard water. Helps protect our septic system as well. And I am in love with the packaging! Genius! Highly recommended product!

I'm always eager to try out new more environmentally friendly products. As far as the 4X detergent compared to the 2X we had been using, I noticed no difference. My only critique of any of these detergents is that I definitely don't see stains in white clothing come out (even with a presoak) as nicely as I would like. But usually a wash in the nonchlorine bleach and drying in the sunshine has helped this.

I like the packaging and have not had a problem with breakage or leaking etc. I hope that I don't! We're only on bottle #3 though. I guess the test for us will be to see if it works well on cloth diapers as baby #2 is arriving this month!

Thanks!
