My science project question (5th grade) is "What brand of toilet paper dissolves the fastest?" Why aren't any of the brands I'm testing (including Seventh Generation) dissolving when I put in water? After 12 hours, one sheet of the Seventh Generation hasn't changed at all!!! I don't know what to do to make this experiment work! Can anyone please give me ideas of what to use to maybe put in the water to help the toilet paper start to dissolve? I'm really stuck!
Thank you!!

Other Bio-toilet Paper
There is also Bio toilet paper that is sold in camping/hiking stores that is made for backpackers and that stuff just about dissolves in your hand.
Bio-toilet Paper
Have you thought about using the paper sold in RV supply stores? I'm not sure what the chemical compounds are, but it might be worth a try. I have a 6th grader and he wants to try this experiment too!
Are You Stirring?
For this experiment, the constants are:
Amount of paper inserted
Amount of water
The power put into each stir
TRY THIS:
Procedure:
1. Fill a bowl with water
2. Insert 3 sheets of the first brand
3. Start timer
4. Stir until the paper splits into pieces
5. Stop timer
6. Repeat steps 1-5 with each brand
7. Write down results in data tables
8. Find the average time for each brand
9. Find the best brand
Good Luck!
