Campgrounds and Recycling
Posted June 24th, 2008 by woolfaHi,I recently went camping with my family down near NC. And for my surprise, they didn't recycle. Come on, how do you not recycle when camping? All the plastic that you waste and paper plates etc...I'm new and still learning about becoming green, I try to recycle and save energy. Any ideas of who to call or what to do to have campgrounds have recycling options so I don't have to bring bags of recycling stuff back home every time I go camping, and if you have any ideas for camping green?
Thanx.

Hi there,
I agree - it seems logical that campgrounds would be one of the most obvious places to start acting "green"! I would recommend contacting the state park service and finding out who oversees campgrounds, and voicing your opinion. Maybe there are ways to get involved in helping them to see opportunities for upgrading their trash and recycling practices.
In the meantime though, you might have to bring along a few extra bags for recycling when you get home! I know I have to do this most places. It sure will be nice when its more common to have recycling facilities everywhere you go!
