Broken Appliance Recycling

Does anyone know if there are mail-in programs or some other type of nationally available recycling for broken appliances? We have a small collection that I would like to avoid throwing in the garbage if possible, including a coffee grinder, a c.d. player, a ceiling fan, as well as other items.
