The best BPA-free option...

I was so disappointed to see #8 on Nursery School: 10 ways to green your home for the new baby. It stated "8) Use glass baby bottles to protect your newborn from the bisphenol-a found in many polycarbonate (#7) plastic models." But there was no mention of breastfeeding in lieu of bottles. It bears repeating that breastmilk is the best food for baby, and is also the most environmentally responsible choice.

While glass is a great

While glass is a great idea....many daycares will not let you use glass bottles so we are going with the Born Free BPA Free bottles. And yes....I breastfed #1 exclusively for 8 months and will be BF #2 for a year but I work and have to pump (thankfully medla products are BPA free)

Allergies

We all know breastfeeding is best, however my daughter was lactose intolerant and allergic to breast milk, as was I. So I had to switch her to bottles after only two weeks. I chose Born Free because they are BP-A free. Also, I'm not 100%, but I believe Nuby sippy cups are as well.

Bottle Feeding

I bottle feed my lo and definitely GLASS with silicone (not plastic) nipples. With formula, take out of the cans (even the plastic lids contain BPA)..and store in air tight class....lets go back to the old days as such, basics are best.

Breastfeeding and bottles

You're right that breastfeeding is the best food for baby as well as the most environmentally responsible choice. However, exclusively breastmilk does not mean exclusively breastfed - think of all of the working/pumping mothers out there who work hard to make sure they are providing breastmilk that their child's care providers can feed to their wee ones. In addition, there are women who, for whatever reason, are not able to breastfeed their babies.

So, all things considered, perhaps we should have stated, "8) When you need to use a bottle to feed your baby, use glass baby bottles..."
