Composition:
Our pads are made of a combination of absorbent materials, polyolefins, adhesives, and a silicone-coated paper. The top layer is a non-woven polyolefin cover sheet. The absorbent materials consist of chlorine free wood pulp, and Lysorb, an absorbent gel. Lysorb, also known as SNAP (super absorbent natural polymer), is a polysaccharide derived from wheat. Polysaccharides are complex sugars found in many natural substances, like the fibers of cotton, wood, and wheat.
* The removable peel strip is whitened with a chlorine-containing substance. We're working to eliminate this exception so the entire product will be processed chlorine free.

These pads are not that sticky. They don't stay in place well and bunch up A LOT. Wings are supposed to make the pad stay in place but if they aren't really sticky then they will fail at their job, which these do.
I also tried Natracare's Ultra Thin Pads with Wings, which have similar problems but seem to absorb better than 7th Gen's pads.
Does anyone have any better suggestions of greener and chlorine-free alternatives?

Most likely if you are considering this product, you're thinking that why not go green with something that you HAVE to use every month that just gets tossed in the trash. Right?
Well, that's what led me originally to Seventh Generation.
Then I read all kinds of things about why "greener" or non-chlorinated products for feminine hygiene are good/better for you ... and the thing that really made me want to try these is that a lot of people say they cramp less because these pads do not pull the blood (oh there's no pretty way to say that!) from you that just collect what comes out naturally.
So here I go to Whole Foods to buy them and well yeah they're a little more expensive than the old standby, Always, but I'm thinking hey its better for me and the environment so I bought the Seventh Generation Ultra Thin Overnights with Wings.
I finally got to try them and for once I was thinking ok maybe this will make me feel better about this lovely time of the month. Unfortunately I couldn't stand them! They bunch up soooo bad that bending over feels like you wedged four rolls of toilet paper in your hoo-ha and sitting down is waaaay worse and the absorbency stinks. I had to change it 3 times more frequently than the Always Ultra Thin Overnights with Wings that I'm used to, so I'm thinking maybe its not better because its creating a lot more waste.
Maybe its just my job in the fact that I have to be extremely mobile all day long, lifting boxes, doing stock, standing at my register, and then for a few minutes sitting down. But over all I found that even though I know these are better for the environment, I will not be using these until they are improved upon.
