Easily removes food debris and stains to reveal sparkling clean dishes without chlorine, phosphates or synthetic fragrances.
DID YOU KNOW...If every household in the U.S. replaced just one box of 45 oz. dishwashing detergent containing phosphates with our phosphate-free product, we could prevent 60 million pounds of phosphates from entering our rivers, lakes and streams. Learn more.
We create effective household and personal care products that help you care for the health of your family, your home, and our planet.

As a college student and full time worker, my dishes don't exactly get washed after use. This product gets them all clean (baked on, dried on stuff) in hard south Texas water. I don't think I can switch back now, since the other brands don't work quite as well and I can sleep better knowing that everytime I run my dishwasher, I'm doing atleast something to help out the environment. Thanks for a fantastic (and affordable!) product that actually works!
I love all the Seventh Generation products I use and this is no exception. I like not putting any more phosphates & nitrates into the environment than I HAVE to. Also, I like not getting any dyes or scent chemicals on dishes that are going to be holding the food I put in to my body.
It used to be the case that "natural products" didn't work as well as their petroleum derived cousins. I haven't tried washing a non-rinsed, super baked-on lasagna pan, but all of my dishes come out clean as a whistle! (seriously, no one wants a dirty whistle...)
I really love the intent behind Seventh Generation's company, but I have to say that you *had* a great product, and tried to fix something that wasn't broken, now it sucks, at least for those of us with harder water.
Never had this problem before with the original product and didn't think twice when buying the "improved" one, I expected the same great results. I now have to find a replacement automatic powder and in the mean time am soaking everything that got fogged and filmed in apple cider vinegar, this includes the utensils, glass, ceramics etc.
Please don't try to improve any other products, they are great already.
If you bring back the "old" formula powder for those of us that have hard water I'll buy that one.
We've used Seventh Generation products for a long time and loved them. I especially love that they are free of scents and perfumes! However, the new improved formula dishwasher powder leaves a residue of undissolved granules of detergent over everything, which is not a problem we had with the old detergent. We live in NC and have hard water. Using plain white vinegar in the rinse aid seems to have solved the problem for now. Of course I would love for a newer formula to be released that does not necessitate remembering to add the vinegar, while still maintaining the improved ecological impact of the detergent. But for now this solution is working for us.
I wrote the review below, and I meant to say Ecover was the good stuff, not Ecos
