Free & Clear: Natural 4x Laundry Detergent

Disappointing packaging. Bought it on clearance at Target and thought I'd give it a try, but by the time I got through checkout (with my reusable bags) and into the car and then into the house, the container had BROKEN and soap leaked all over bag. Now, I have to wash, that, too, PLUS keep the remaining soap in a (recycled) newspaper bag in a plastic bin in laundry room... Bin will need to be washed, too, and I have to wash my hands every time I do a load of laundry since I get soap all over them. Also, as a side note, hard to GRAB and HOLD ON to container since there is not a true handle.

I've been using the 2x detergent for several years now, and love it, so when my store started carrying the 4x detergent, I was all for it. But this new packaging is a disappointment. Even if you compost the outer shell, the inner liner is only recyclable at places that recycle plastic bags. And if you don't compost, then the shell is only recyclable in municipalities that recycle pasteboard (non-corrugated cardboard). There are a lot of places in this country where one or both of those recycling options isn't available. On the other hand, standard plastic bottle recycling, while not universal, is far more widespread. My grocery store now only carries the 4x bottles, but fortunately I can still find the 2x at Target. I hope it stays there.

When I think of doing laundry, I think of all of the beautiful smells that accompany the task... fresh flowers, ocean mist, etc. Until now! I recently switched to Seventh Generation at the kitchen sink, and realized how much cleaner my dishes were without the soap smell, I figured I'd try the Free & Clear Laundry Care. I knew that I would be forfeiting the fresh aromas of daisies and such, but gave it a try anyway. What I realized after the first use was that my clothes seemed cleaner, and dare I say... fresher smelling than soap. How can a "flavorless" detergent smell so fresh? Who knows... you might want to ask 7Gen about that... but I am not complaining one bit! Excellent product!

Awesome laundry detergent. It cleans the clothes great. even though there isn't a fragrance still smells fresh and clean. I hope to find coupons the only con for me is it is a lot of money.

We've been using this product for a long time and really love the new packaging. I wish a wider range of products have such smart design. No problem taking them container apart. Plus works well on my kid's filthy clothes.
