Material Safety Data Sheets
This natural dishwasher detergent has been formulated to work with your automatic dishwasher. Please follow instructions to get the most effective dishwashing experience.
LOAD DISHWASHER- Make sure items can be safely washed in a dishwasher. Silver, aluminum and stainless steel should be washed in separate loads to avoid discoloration. Load items with soiled surfaces facing the center of the bottom rack for optimum dishwashing.
ADD DISHWASHER DETERGENT- Fill both pre-wash and main wash cups completely with the dishwashing powder. Use less dishwasher detergent for soft water/smaller loads.
Re-seal package after use and store in a dry place out of reach of children. For very hard water we recommend using Seventh Generation Rinse Aid.

I bought the dishwashing powder for the first time. I just had a brand new KitchenAid dishwasher installed less than a month ago and used the Seventh Generation detergent. Boy was I in for a surprise. My glasses came out all cloudy and there was residue on all the other dishes plus the bottom of my new washer was covered with a powder residue that would not even come off when I ran the machine two more times costing me water. I am not using this product anymore and now I have to hand clean the inside of my new machine. So disappointed. Will use the rest of the powder to wash down the front walk outside, hope it works better there.
I have used the old formula, which I understand was not completely biodegradable, for over a year & have loved the results! Unfortunately, the "improved formula", which is 100% biodgegradable (which is great), leaves a horrible, white film all over the dishes. After trying Seventh Generation's suggestions of reducing the amount of detergent & using vinegar for the rinse agent, with little improvement, I unfortunately have concluded that I will no longer use the product. I was offered a $1 coupon from Seventh Generation, but this is not acceptable since I won't be buying it anymore. I am hoping for another "newer and improved formula" that will work a little better!
This is in response to the post by rodgerskm: My name is Jason and I work for Seventh Generation and I will do my best to help. In general Seventh Generation Auto Dish Products work very well and are independently tested to make sure they perform well. The challenges can be how auto dish products perform in various types of water chemistry. As it stands, our Auto Dish Powder performs slightly ahead of our Auto Dish Gel in hard water chemistry. In cases where there are hard water challenges you can use a natural rinse aid like the one we produce. This can help the product - it softens the water, allowing the auto dish product to work more effectively. Using vinegar as a natural rinse aid can be helpful as well. Splashing in a quarter cup of vinegar in the bottom of the dishwasher prior to use can be a plus. If you ever have any specific questions relative to your experiences please feel free to contact us via e-mail at, info@seventhgeneration.com, or via phone 800-456-1191. I hope this helps!
Any advice on the dishwashing detergent. My first purchase, liquid. I am noticing a significant difference in "clean" dishes. Can any one advise...is the powder better? or tips on would hand washing simply be better?
I own an in home daycare. And I use organic everything and non toxic cleaners so naturally I tried to change my dishwashing soap. Unfortunately I was very dissapointed I am taking the dishwashing powder back. It leaves a terrible residue on the dishes. And I know it isn't the washer because I switched the next wash to my old soap and all the glasses were clear. So Sorry Seventh Generation not impressed with this specific product.
