Material Safety Data Sheets

Usage:

This natural dishwasher detergent has been formulated to work with your automatic dishwasher. Please follow instructions to get the most effective dishwashing experience.

LOAD DISHWASHER- Make sure items can be safely washed in a dishwasher.  Silver, aluminum and stainless steel should be washed in separate loads to avoid discoloration.  Load items with soiled surfaces facing the center of the bottom rack for optimum dishwashing.

ADD DISHWASHER DETERGENT- Fill both pre-wash and main wash cups completely with the dishwashing powder.  Use less dishwasher detergent for soft water/smaller loads.
Re-seal package after use and store in a dry place out of reach of children.  For very hard water we recommend using Seventh Generation Rinse Aid.

What do you think about our Automatic Dishwasher Powder?

I have read the other reviews, and I have never had the fortune to try the original formula. I first bought it when it was already "improved". (Like a month ago) I have to really double check all the dishes when they come out, because they are not getting all the way clean. In the city I live, the water is very hard. It's normal to get water spots. I have noticed the Cascade that I had previously is a lot "grittier" then the 7th generation - and maybe that helps work the food bits off better. I have been switching to more eco-friendly and healthier products throughout my house. I stopped using dawn a year ago and have been using 7th generation "free & clear" dish liquid for over a year. Absolutely love that. But I am disappointed in the dishwasher powder.

Seventh Gen. dishwasher detergent is my new favorite find! I was using Cascade liquid, and the dishes came out so filthy I actually thought there was something wrong with my dishwasher.
Before replacing the dishwasher, I thought I'd try a different detergent, and I really found a significant improvement with Seventh Gen. I only use about a tablespoon per load. It did leave some spots on glasses, but if you add a little vinegar, the spots are gone!
Thanks for a great product.

We are sorry to hear that our "Improved Formula" is not working well for you. It was with our greatest intentions that we made these changes: We are using more soluble ingredients (similar to those in our single dose pac format) and the product is now 100% biodegradable. However, it is clear that the new formula is not working well in all conditions. We are particularly sensitive to those who were happy with our previous formula and now can't get the same or better results with our new version.

We are currently reviewing the changes and testing a wide variety of production and lab samples. A critical piece of the investigation is to document in detail consumer experiences to shed more light on what could be the problem. We encourage anyone having issues with this product to please contact our Consumer Insights department, 800-456-1191 or info@seventhgeneration.com we would love to hear the individual experiences and learn from these. We also want to help you find a safe, responsible product that will be effective in your home. We have 2 other dishwashing products and sometimes it can be a matter of finding the right one for the water conditions in your home.

To get any dishes that have filming on them back to normal, you can soak them in a sink of water with a cup of vinegar. A quick rinsing afterward should have them back to normal. For any dishwashers that are getting film on the inside you can again use vinegar. Add about 1/2 cup to the bottom of the machine and run a rinse cycle, this should restore in the interior of your machine.

We understand that many people do not want to use rinse aids as they can use harsh ingredients. We do offer a safe, non-toxic rinse aid and some people have had success with vinegar. This can be added right to your rinse aid dispenser.

Please know that we are listening and would love to hear from anyone that is having a hard time with this new formula or any of our products.

This product ruined the inside of my stainless steel dishwasher. It etched the glassware and plastic products that I ran in the wash cylce. Seventh Generation should have a bold warning about the proper use of this product. Do not use it you have any mixed metals in your wash cycle it will ruin everthing. It may save the enviornment (which is wonderful) but it will cost me a lot to replace the things I can no longer use.

I have always encouraged everyone I know to buy this auto dishwasher detergent. It was a great product which cleaned my dishes beautifully and I never used any rinsing agent for which I was very grateful.
So when I opened a newly purchased box of the "improved formula" I was wondering how much more it could be improved because I was already so pleased after using this product for at least ten years.
Now I am sad and disappointed. My glasses and stainless steel items are being ruined. I began to notice the effects immediately. I have two more boxes of this detergent in my pantry but I don't want to use this product any more.

Now I have to go shopping for a new dishwashing powder that is environmentally friendly. I'm not sure where to look. I've always been very satisfied with Seventh Generation cleaning products, especially the Free and Clear products with enzymes.

I still love the laundry powder so please don't "change" that product.
I hope Seventh Generation can remedy the problem with the "improved" auto dish powder. It is a real proble
