About the 7 Day Journey

Breast Cancer Fund

Seventh Generation believes that business is one of the most powerful instruments available for creating meaningful change in our world and we are committed to supporting like-minded organizations.

One important organization we are proud to support is the Breast Cancer Fund. While Seventh Generation seeks to create household and personal care products that are effective and designed with your health & the environment in mind, the Breast Cancer Fund’s mission is to prevent cancer by eliminating our exposure to toxic chemicals and radiation linked to the disease.

The Breast Cancer Fund works to connect the dots between breast cancer and exposures to chemicals of concern and radiation in our everyday environments, translating the growing body of scientific evidence linking breast cancer and environmental exposures into public education and advocacy campaigns that protect our health and reduce breast cancer risk. In support of their efforts, Seventh Generation has pledged $25,000 to the Breast Cancer Fund in 2013.

Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) Certified

Your shampoo, your ice cream, your margarine, even your soap likely contain oil from the fruit of the oil palm tree. The crop is versatile, renewable and highly productive. But the very things that make it so attractive are also leading to serious environmental abuse.

Large areas of tropical forests and other ecosystems have been cleared to make room for vast monoculture oil palm plantations – destroying critical habitat for many endangered species, including rhinos, elephants, tigers and the elusive orangutan.

Since Seventh Generation uses sustainable palm oil in its cleaners, laundry detergents, and personal care products, we joined the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) to help in the efforts  toward a global solution. The RSPO Promotes palm oil production practices that help reduce deforestation, preserve biodiversity and respect the livelihoods of rural communities.

Not only did Seventh Generation become the first household products company to purchase credits to offset all the palm oil used in our products, we also introduced the first line of Bar Soap with the RSPO Certified Sustainable Palm Oil seal in the US. The seal verifies that valuable tropical forests were not cleared, and social and environmental safeguards were met during the oil's harvest and production.

In partnership with the Philadelphia Zoo, Seventh Generation also supports the efforts of the Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Programme (SOCP) in Sumatra and the Tuanan Orangutan Research Project in Indonesia by funding projects to protect this endangered primate.
